What We Test For

In plain language.

Milk fat99.5% or higher Pure cow ghee is almost entirely milk fat. A high number means nothing has been diluted in.
Moisture0.5% or lower Low moisture means a longer shelf life and no watering down.
Reichert-Meissl value28 or higher A fingerprint for genuine cow-milk fat. Vegetable fats score far lower.
Butyro-refractometer reading40 to 44 Within this range is typical for real cow ghee.
Baudouin test (vanaspati)Negative A negative result means no vanaspati, that is, no hydrogenated oil.
Added vegetable oilNone No seed or vegetable oils blended in.
